Alexander Wang was born and raised in San Francisco, Wang moved to New York City at eighteen. After just one year of studying design at Parsons and interning at Teen Vogue, he started his own collection and since then had been winning favorable review from the fashion editors.
Alexander Wang is known for streetwear and sportswear. Not to mention that his collections are perfectly crafted, but the styling is fresh and he made any women looks chic and trendy. His ready-to-wear collection includes not only cashmere sweaters and cozy cardigans, but also the distressed boyfriend jeans and shrunken vests. His collection also includes easy matching accessories.
This season, Wang’s collection has been inspired by the vintage 1960s. He uses a lot of fur in his collection. Details and accessories such as fur collars, fur high heels, and fur sunglasses makes it very elegant, and yet, young and futuristic luxury. Since John Galliano has been fired by Christian Dior, there were several designers such as Haider Ackermann, Marc Jacobs and Riccardo Tisci had been mentioned to take up the job. Vogue UK reported lately that Wang has been one of them. However, there was critics over Wang that he doesn’t have any couture experience.
